This was a successful declared goal flight, Strathyre to Spittal of Glenshee, but open distance scored 3km more!.An amazing day, good climbs but drift was well south of course line, lots of cross-winding required, too late in the flight for comfort. Convergence and sea breeze near goal overcame the head-wind on final glide to goal. Westerly wind would have allowed an easy ridge soar all the way to Braemar, but retrieve worries and time of day encourage landing, which was pretty rough at the Cairnwell "runway". |
