166km (Optimised) race to goal (BOS 2). Landed 24km short after National Emergency alarm went off on my phone which prompted me to check my instrument, which said time was 20:05 (land-by time 20:00). Stopped dolphin flying towards goal and started following A421 looking for a good landing field. Spiralled off the last 600 feet for a nice landing. Checked phone: time was 19:15! Turns out Brauniger was still on French time after the nationals! Curses! Another 3km would likely have beaten Tim for my first day win. |
